LADY SHAKA
Fresh from her Glastonbury debut, Lady Shaka has had an eventful summer as part of the 3'Hi family. In the past few months, she has launched her residency at London's Colour Factory, been part of the Boiler Room world tour, been featured by Resident Advisor and is only getting bigger. Originally from Aotearoa (New Zealand) and based in London, Lady Shaka is a trans Afro Pacifica interdisciplinary DJ of indigenous Maori and Cape Verdean descent. Known for her involvement in queer collectives Pxssy Palace, Misery and Filth, and Pulotu Underworld, Lady Shaka fuses club music with the culture and sounds of her Pasada ancestors and the ancestral sounds of the Pasifika experience. Her music blends genres such as house, garage, dancehall and drum and bass, but is always heavily influenced by sounds from her own cultures, stating that "music is the vessel that sets the body in motion, speaks and tells stories".
